As many of you know the Club has had the Development Application approved to build a new Life Guard Room and First Aid Room which we do not currently have. This project alters our existing Patrol/Craft Shed and incorporates a 6m x 8m extension to the south side of the building for the Council Lifeguards and their gear.
An artist's impression of the completed works can be seen in the thumb nail below - click to enlarge.

We will be converting the Ski Shed into a First Aid/Patrol Sign-on room and the existing small Patrol Radio room will be used to store the patrol equipment. The plans can be viewed below (click to enlarge) are also on display at the Clubhouse.

Manly Council has received a grant to build a new bike track and also widen, pave and re-landscape the Beach Front Walkway. These works will encroach into the area that the Club as received approval to build our new Life Guard and First Aid Rooms.
Council contractors have already commenced work and this means that we have to start our work as soon as possible; otherwise we may have to repair any damage our project later causes to the Council’s project.
Last season the Club had 434 patrolling members who have carried out 149 rescues, 2,588 preventative actions and treated 318 first aid cases, either on the beach or on the footpath outside the patrol shed. These first aid cases have been at an average of 4 per patrol day and include spinal injuries, fractures, severe bleeding, epileptic fits and heart problems right down to severe bluebottle stings.
On average there are over 500 Nippers on the beach every Sunday during the season, large numbers of members completing awards and general public enjoying the beach and water areas at Queenscliff. It is imperative that we have the first aid facilities the meet this demand and the Council Lifeguards need to be closer to "the action" and be able to see down the beach to North Steyne.
We desperately need this First Aid Room but we also need the funds to complete it. As you are aware, Club functions purely on the funds we can secure through donations, sponsorship and fund-raising events.
The Club is asking if our Members, Sponsors and Friends can assist with a tax deductible donation to the Club. This assistance can be given in a number of ways which could help with this much needed project including: donations of funds; discounts on building product for the project; supply of products which we might use to raise funds; or technical / professional skills.
Donations can be made by electronic funds transfer (EFT), the details are as follows:
